Mumbai Recycling Club (MRC) is committed to building a circular economy by giving a second life to wearable clothing. We connect urban households with grassroots communities, ensuring that clothes are reused responsibly while supporting livelihoods and preserving traditional systems.
Reviving a Traditional Ecosystem
We collect wearable clothes in good condition from urban households and channel them through trusted community-based networks.
These networks sustain a six-decade-old barter trade system, where old clothes were exchanged for utensils across major Indian cities like Mumbai, Navi Mumbai.
Through this model, we preserve cultural heritage while strengthening livelihoods in the second-hand clothing ecosystem.
Making Clothing Accessible
The collected clothes are redistributed to rural and underprivileged regions, helping low-income families, farmers, and labor communities access affordable clothing.
This significantly reduces their daily expenses and improves their overall quality of life.
Empowering Women
Our initiative actively promotes women's empowerment by creating livelihood opportunities in the unorganised sector.
Women are engaged in collection, sorting, and distribution activities, enabling financial independence, dignity, and long-term stability for their families.
